Office inventory project
Counting the objects that count for the people who count

Since May 16, 2010, Grégory Decock has produced a series of inventories, obtaining the autorisation to draw in situ and on paper, the contours of the objects lying on the desks of BEL20 CEO. According to Hegel, art is determined as the sensible presentation of truth. This is what Decock is trying to achieve through this project.
This process was born from reflecting on the notion of diverging perceptions, and on the way our society values non-artistic work as opposed to artistic work. The composition’s intricacy and tension depends on the quantity of objets lying on the desk.
K+K Gallery decided to move their space into a prestiguous environment to present (exclusively at S.M.A.K.) the inventory drawing Decock made of the Prime Minister Yves Leterme’s desk.
The same way the artist infiltrates into the offices of important people of the Belgian political and economical life.
EERSTE
Sinds 16 mei 2010 heeft Grégory Decock een reeks inventarissen gemaakt waarbij hij de toestemming kreeg van prominente figuren uit het Belgische economische en politieke leven (CEO’s van de BEL20 en Eerste Minister Yves Leterme) om in situ de omtrek van de objecten te tekenen die zich op hun bureaus bevinden . Volgens Hegel is kunst de gevoelige voorstelling van de waarheid. Dit is wat Decock probeert te bereiken via zijn project. Dit proces is ontstaan uit de reflectie over het begrip van uiteenlopende percepties, en over hoe de maatschappij een waarde toekent aan niet-
artistiek werk in tegenstelling tot artistiek werk. De complexiteit van de compositie en de spanning ervan zijn afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid objecten die zich op het bureau bevinden.
Galerie K+K presenteert (in exclusiviteit in het S.M.A.K.) de inventaris die Decock maakte van het bureau van Eerste Minister Yves Leterme.
Galerie K+K besloot om hun galerieruimte in een prestigieuze omgeving te verplaatsen op dezelfde manier zoals de kunstenaar zijn atelier verplaatst in de kantoren van belangrijke personen van het Belgische economische en politieke leven.

Depuis le 16 mai 2010, Grégory Decock développe une série d’ inventaires, consistant à obtenir l’ autorisation de dessiner «in situ», sur une feuille de dessin le contour des objets qui se trouvent sur le bureau des grands patrons du BEL20.
L’ art selon Hegel, est la présentation sensible de la vérité. C’ est ce que Decock tente de réaliser avec ce projet. Sa démarche est le fruit d’ une réflexion sur la notion de différence perception, et de valeur qui existe dans notre société entre le travail et le travail artistique.
Tout comme Grégory Decock, la Galerie K+K a décidé de se déplacer au sein d’ un lieu prestigieux pour présenter (en exclusivité au S.M.A.K.) l’ inventaire qu’il a réalisé dans le bureau du Premier Ministre Yves Leterme. à l’image de son travail dont la réalisation impose obligatoirement d’ être dans le bureau-même des grands responsables de la vie politique et économique belge, bureau devenant alors l’espace de quelques heures son propre atelier.
